Guernsey’s Healthcare Group has launched an online booking system for standard General Practitioner appointments.
The new service, which went live this morning, is available to patients across all the group’s practices in the Bailiwick.
The Healthcare Group says the new booking system is part of a series of digital improvements following the introduction of the new electronic patient record system, Medicus, in June.
Dr Ed Partridge, Practice Chairman at Healthcare Group, said: “Online booking gives patients more control over how and when they book appointments, and for many it’s a much more convenient option.
“For us, it frees up valuable time behind the scenes, which means we can focus more energy where it matters most, on patient care.”

Essentially the booking system aims to make healthcare more convenient for patients and free up staff time for patient care, although initially, online booking is limited to standard GP appointments only.
Healthcare Group said it plans to expand the types of appointments available to book online in the future. The system is currently set up to allow patients to book appointments for September and beyond.
Dr Partridge continued: “This is a major milestone in our move to a more modern, efficient, and patient-focused way of working. We’ll be expanding online booking in due course and exploring other ways to use the new Medicus system to make every day healthcare easier for our patients, and more efficient for our teams.
“Since Medicus launched, we’ve already seen a significant reduction in administrative pressures and a noticeable improvement in patient experience, and this is just the start.”
