Windsor Medical, a family-run medical practice and pharmacy group, says itβs expanding its operations in Guernsey and is currently looking to fill several positions.
The most urgent needs are for Pharmacy Dispensers and Pharmacy Technicians, roles which involve supporting the pharmacy by dispensing medications, managing stock, and assisting patients with prescriptions. Overall they play a crucial part in the smooth operation of a medical practice.
However in an online advert for the roles on gov.gg, (viewable HERE), they are βpossibly looking forβ General Practitioners, (GPs), or Specialists, though they add itβs not an immediate priority.

These job openings are particularly relevant in the context of the recent discussions about healthcare funding in the Channel Islands.
While Jersey has seen some clinics, like Windsor Medical’s own practice there, offer free GP appointments due to higher government subsidies, Guernsey’s clinics so far are not following suit due to what some have described as significantly lower levels of government support.Β
In fact Jersey have pushed further into the government purse to provide affordable healthcare for islanders, as residents are set to benefit from another new subsidy on appointments with nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, and health care assistants, and for telephone consultations with GPs.Β
The new Β£10 government subsidy β which does not apply to face-to-face doctor appointments β came into force from 1 July 2025.
It follows previous reductions in the cost of face-to-face GP appointments β which were reduced by Β£20 in 2023, with a further Β£10 subsidy announced by the Government in May 2024.
The Express approached Windsor Medical asking if alongside extra staff, theyβll be bringing with them reduced rates, or even potentially free appointments. We are yet to receive a response.
The availability of these new roles at Windsor Medical in Guernsey suggests an investment in expanding primary care capacity on the island, which aligns with the broader aim of improving healthcare accessibility for residents, even if free GP appointments are not on the horizon.
