The 30 Walks in 30 Days Challenge is back, with those keen to take part being encouraged to sign up by Les Bourgs Hospice.
The fundraiser is designed to encourage active lifestyles while raising vital funds for palliative care in the Bailiwick, with Les Bourgs’ running costs coming to more than £8,000 per day.
Launching today, the challenge is taking place through to the end of the month.
There are several different options for those wanting to take on the challenge, depending on their individual ability.
There’s the daily mile supported by the Health Improvement Commission’s ‘Be Active’ campaign, or separate aims of hitting as many as 10,000 steps daily.
There’s also a team challenge where groups of four can track their combined steps to “walk the world”.
According to a spokesperson for Les Bourgs Hospice, the challenge is also a way to rethink how the public can fit exercise into their day to build sustainable habits.
“Whether it is to make the most of Spring days and lighter evenings, be the enabler to help people move more, to set aside time to make time to catch up with family and friends or to benefit from the multiple health benefits walking brings, this challenge ticks all the boxes!” said Liz Stonebridge.
“Plus importantly, it helps to raise essential funding for hospice care for our Bailiwick Community. Registrations remain open throughout April so please sign up today.”
Registration remains open throughout the month, with all of the funds raised going directly to the hospice.
For adults between 18 – 49 entry costs £15, adults over 50 entry costs £10, and for Children under 18 it costs £5. For teams of four, it’s a flat rate of £60.
You can register for 30 Walks in 30 Days on Les Bourgs’ website, or through the RaceNation platform.
