A new art exhibition at Saumarez Park is aiming to show a different side to the fishing world.
Sark-born artist, Rosanne Guille, has captured the many different stages of preparing fish, from hauling them out of the sea to serving them for supper at Vraic.
Mrs Guille said that she wanted to do something that would “come from her heart”.
“Once I invited the fishermen and their families, I think they were pleased that somebody was taking what they do and highlighting it basically.
“A lot of the fishermen, particularly the commercial fishermen with nets and pots have sold their boats.”
“It’s a way of life and it’s really hard for them to think that maybe they might have to sell their boat and do something else.”
Mrs Guille told Express that as well as being her first exhibition with pastels it was also her first time portraying people in her art.
“It’s given me a sense that you should try going out of your comfort zone, because I think it’s good for you as an artist to develop your work and not just stay in your groove.”
Mrs Guille hoped to show that the fishing industry is an important area of tradition and local culture.
“I wanted to recreate a side of Guernsey that not many people see. Just seeing it from the other side and trying to put that across was something that I thought people and I think people have found that interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes.”
“I hope it makes people appreciate what we have, and there may be nothing we can do about global warming, because it’s a worldwide problem.”
‘Marine Life’ runs until 31 July at the National Trust of Guernsey’s Art at the Park Gallery, with free entry.
The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 17:00, except on the final day where it closes at 14:00.
