Students from Jersey and Japan have worked together to create two new artistic murals for Islanders to discover this weekend.
Six students from Senzoku Gakuen School in Japan travelled to the Island last week for an exchange with Jersey College for Girls.
The week-long programme saw pupils visit Jersey’s historical and natural attractions, and focus on female empowerment, leadership and shared heritage.
Paired with JCG “buddies”, the visiting students contributed to the Art in the Arches project, which sees different groups paint murals at Elizabeth Marina.
The 2026 theme is “Safe Haven” and has also seen a contribution from Antiguan artists.
ArtHouse Jersey said the students worked together “with every student contributing to both murals”.
“Rather than creating separate national artworks, the young artists exchanged ideas, techniques and stories, ensuring that every painting contains the creative fingerprints of both communities,” the charity said.
The 47 new murals are open to the public at the Elizabeth Marina from Saturday 25 July.
