A Guernsey woman made it to mile 20 of the London Marathon before running out of time has completed the race… in Guernsey.

Emily Nuttall walked the marathon on crutches to raise money for Grassroots Suicide Prevention, but was forced to pull out because of the time limit.

Determined to complete the race distance, Ms Nuttall walked the remaining 8.2 miles across Guernsey.

Ms Nuttall, who has also run the Brighton Half Marathon, has worked alongside Grassroots for two years using her experiences to help shape projects and suicide prevention hubs and says the charity’s work is deeply personal to her.

Se added: “I want to give back, help break the stigma around suicide, and show others that recovery is possible.”

“I also want to offer a message of hope and to not be ashamed of your story as it could empower and inspire others.”

Grassroots Suicide Prevention empowers people to help save lives from suicide through educating, connecting and campaigning nationally.
