Members of the public have been invited down to Jerbourg Point on Saturday, (26th July), for the chance to potentially spot marine mammals, and enjoy a cup of Coffee.

The Marine Section of La Société Guernesiaise says it’s to celebrate National Whale and Dolphin Watch Week, and is a friendly, informal event, open to all who want to help look out for dolphins, porpoises, and other wildlife in the waters around Guernsey.

They’ve advised those interested to wear weather appropriate clothing, to don the suncream if it’s needed, and a set of binoculars if you have them.

Taking place at Jerbourg Point the event is lasting for two hours, from 08.30am to 10.30am.

A spokesperson for La Societe stated: “Whether you are a seasoned wildlife enthusiast or simply curious about our local marine life, drop in at any time during the session and join the watch. No prior experience is necessary—just a sense of curiosity and community spirit.”

“We’re hoping for dolphin sightings, but even if we don’t spot any this time, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy Guernsey’s spectacular coastline and meet like-minded people.”

For anyone with questions or queries, they ask that you contact marinebiology@societe.org.gg for more.
