82% of Elizabeth College leavers achieved grades between A* and C – 4% higher than last year – while 38% received the top two grades, up 7%.
The mixed private college saw four students achieve only A* grades, while 15 students got three or more A* and A grades.
Top university educations will follow for many of them including at Cambridge, Durham and Royal Hollaway, while two students are heading to the United States for their studies and others have accepted offers from the big four finance firms locally.
Students at Blanchelande College achieved a 98% pass rate with 61% of grades marked A* to C. The overall pass rate is down 2% on last year with the number of students achieving A* to C grades falling from 77%.
The Ladies’ College students also received a strong set of results, with 91% achieving A* to C grades, while 70% achieved the top three grades. In 2023, two-thirds of Year 13 Students at the college achieved A* to B, while over a third were marked the top two grades.
There was a 98.4% Level 3 pass rate at the States-run Sixth Form Centre, which includes International Baccalaureate results. But the full picture for public post-16 education won’t be available until this afternoon.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland top grades rose for the first time since 2021 and has surpassed 2019 levels, with 28% of all grades marked A or A*
82% of students have got their top-pick for university nationally.

Elizabeth College Principal Jenny Palmer spoke of her pride in the students, with the results confirming their hard work and dedication over the past two years.
“Today, we celebrate more than just top grades. Elizabeth College students have a diverse range of abilities and interests, and it is equally important to recognise the progress they’ve made, alongside the development of character, skills and a love of learning, during their time at college,” she said.
“Most of the students leaving this year joined the upper school in Year 7 as I began my tenure as Principal. It has been a privilege to travel with them on their journey through the college and to see them becoming confident and well-rounded individuals who are ready to spread their wings and soar. As they embark on their chosen pathways, university, gap year or employment and further training, I wish them all the very best.”
Mike Elward, Acting Principal at Blanchelande, thanked teachers and parents for supporting students to achieve a pleasing set of results.
“Today is about celebrating every student who achieves their potential. It’s especially pleasing to see students achieving the grades necessary to go into the next stage of their learning, either in the world of work or in higher education. Since the re-opening of the Sixth Form four years ago, we have seen a growing number of students studying A Levels at Blanchelande and the numbers are set to continue to grow,” he said.
Daniele Harford-Fox, Principal at The Ladies’ College, labelled the results “fantastic.
“I am proud of all that the A level students have achieved this year, not only in their academic study, but also in the wide and profound skills they’ve developed for this fast- changing world. We look forward to following their future achievements, whatever path they choose to take next.’
“Over this past academic year, I have witnessed first-hand the amount of time, dedication, enthusiasm and hard work the girls have put into their studies. That is something all our students can be proud of, regardless of grades.
“This year we have students choosing to study subjects from AI and Computer Science through to attending London drama schools. We have students heading to some of the top-rated universities in the world and also straight into the world of work. The diversity of our girls and their interests is something we are particularly proud of.”
