The team from Marine and Civil Solutions of Exeter arrived on Wednesday, each with a negative Covid-19 test, and were met by the Border Agency to confirm details of their self-isolation while on Alderney.

Deputy Harbour Master Nigel Shaw, who is working with them on the project, is himself self-isolating away from his family and will continue to do so even if the moorings work is completed within the scheduled 14 days.

The team are following strict protocols to keep separate from harbour staff and the community by living in rented accommodation with Covid tests every other day,” confirmed a spokesperson for the States of Alderney.

“Provisions are delivered to their doorstep during their time on the island.”

The annual service contract to check and maintain moorings also includes a rolling programme of buoy replacement.
