The owner of the Idlerocks Hotel site wants another three years added to their planning permission so they can replace the derelict buildings with a new luxury house.
They already have planning permission to knock down the burnt out hotel and all other buildings on the site, and replace them with a house. That permission is due to expire in November though.
Architects, Lovell Ozannne has asked the DPA for another three years’ planning permission for their client, Mr V Dahdaleh, so the work can go ahead in the future.

The new planning application replicates the one lodged in 2022, which saw the current owner receive permission to knock down the hotel.
Past owners had received planning permission on four other occasions to rebuild the hotel, but a change of use to residential was granted in 2022 after it had been proved that no one wanted to buy the hotel and redevelop and reopen it.
At the time, the Planning Officers agreed that: “the establishment has been actively and appropriately marketed for sale and lease for a period of 24 consecutive months and an appropriate offer has not been made”.
The DPA then agreed the change of use to residential, because “it is considered that the loss of visitor accommodation can be accepted as a minor departure (from planning law) in this instance”.

The house which could be built on the grounds in St Martin’s would include three bedrooms, a swimming pool, sauna, games room, cinema, wine cellar, and a housekeeper’s suite.
The designs show that it would be built into the topography of the site at Jerbourg, meaning not much of it would be visible to the passing public.
Express approached Lovell Ozanne for comment, specifically around the time frame for any work starting, but had not received a reply by the time of publication.
