Alderney’s Economic Development Committee is offering financial support to businesses providing early years support in the island.

£20,000 has been set aside to support relevant providers as part of the States plan to support development of facilities and a strategic approach to childcare.

The States of Alderney said the new scheme offers support towards the cost of infrastructure and equipment where this investment will “contribute to the development and enhancement of existing early years provision”.

The scheme will also be available to existing businesses as well as any new early years providers setting up.

Chair of the Economic Development Committee, Stuart Clark said it is all about prioritising young people and their futures.

“Availability of sufficient quality childcare is an important aspect of our community development.

“We are aware that small businesses which provide childcare may not have ready access to funds to invest in improving and extending their offer. By making some funding available from the Economic Development Reserve, we hope that we can support providers by removing the financial barrier to development and improve the support available to parents and families.”

Businesses can apply via the States of Alderney’s website or by collecting a form from the General Office at the Island Hall.
