The Newborn Baby Hats Appeal has agreed another new partnership to enable it to continue its work supplying knitted hats and other items to children in Ukraine.

The Appeal group recently announced it was working with Ferryspeed and the Bournemouth based charity ‘Ukraine Relief’. That meant it could resume shipping its knitted items out to the war-torn country.

It’s also now been confirmed that Specsavers and Guernsey Post have agreed to work with the Appeal to help streamline the delivery of its humanitarian aid.

The charitable drive announced the new partnerships ahead of its four year anniversary this week.

Under the new arrangements Guernsey Post will handle deliveries to the charity Tavi Draugi in Latvia, whilst Ferryspeed will manage the transport of aid to Ukraine Relief in Bournemouth.

Specsavers will provide the cardboard boxes to hold all of the knitwear for the Bournemouth deliveries.

Appeal lead organiser Lilita Kruze said she hopes the collaborations will make it easier for donations from Guernsey to reach families in Ukraine and Latvia.

Martyn Langlois, General Manager at Ferryspeed, said the company is “thrilled to be able to support the Newborn Baby Hats Appeal”.

“We know something as small as a handmade hat can make a huge difference to families in extremely difficult circumstances,” he said.

“By providing logistics support, which is something we do every day, we’re honoured to help these simple acts of kindness by the Guernsey community travel a long way.”

Bethan Griffiths, Marketing Assistant at Guernsey Post, said the postal service is “proud” to support the community, and is “delighted to assist the Newborn Baby Hats Appeal”.
