Upgrades to the gas network on Nocq Road begin this week with work expected to last until mid-December.
Guernsey Energy will be working its way down the road from the Bridge side between 6 October and 12 December.
A road closure will be in place at the junction of New Road from Monday until 24 October.
Metallic pipes will be replaced with more durable plastic pipes which reduce the need for maintenance, as well as allowing different types of gas to be supplied to properties and businesses in the future.
Trenchless methods will be used to save time, however some digging may be required.
Richard Beharrell, Network Operations Manager at Guernsey Energy, said the upgrades would ensure a reliable gas network and would “support the island’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2050.
“We appreciate the residents and businesses’ patience during these necessary improvements.”
The public will be kept informed throughout the project, with Traffic and Highways advising on diversion routes.
Meanwhile, the Grange will be closed in sections from Monday 6 until 31 October.
The work will see several informal crossing points for pedestrians installed along the main road along with road resurfacing.
Phase one will be carried out Monday 6 to Friday 10 October, between the junctions of Sausmarez Street and Upland Road.
