One of Guernsey’s more genteel outdoor activities has proven increasingly popular this year with hundreds of people taking part in the Autumn Walking Festival.
It concluded last weekend, with a total of 333 people taking part – 73 up on last year.
One of the organisers said that a mix of visitors and locals took part, walking different guided routes across the island.
“Numbers increased from 2024, with an extra 73 participants taking part this year,” said Soo Wellfair.
“We had a total of 333 join our accredited guides this year, with a fairly even split between locals and visitors and a quite a few taking part in multiple tours.”
Mrs Wellfair’s ‘All Aboard the Ghost Train’, and ‘L’eree’s Historical Highlights and Magical Mysteries’ (pictured top) tours were among the most popular along with ‘St Peter Port’s Heart Unveiled’ with Bryan Pill, ‘Seaweed Foraging’ with Dave Bartram, Nev Jehan and Bryan Pill, ‘GY1 Ghostly and Ghastly’ with Jo May, ‘Last Man Hanging’ with Jackie Ward and Andy Walker’s ‘Vale Castle tour’.
The various tour guides continue taking private groups throughout the winter, with a focus on organising the Spring Walking Festival which starts next May.
