The victim of an alleged assault in Alderney is in a serious condition in hospital in the UK.

Two men were arrested following the incident, which happened on Saturday.

Enquiries are ongoing and Guernsey Police are leading the investigation.

The alleged assault happened outside The Georgian House, on Victoria Street, on Saturday 9 May.

Guernsey Police have described it as a “serious assault”.

“The victim of the assault is in hospital in the UK and remains in a serious condition,” said the Guernsey Police spokesperson.

They confirmed that officers in Alderney arrested a 46-year-old man on Saturday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was held in custody over the weekend, during which time he was charged. He appeared in court in Alderney yesterday, where he was remanded in custody until future court appearances.

Officers then arrested a 48-year-old man on Monday, on suspicion of assault.
