Pedestrian access to the popular beach was cut off last March and only people with boats have been able to get there since.

Remedial works have been ongoing and, despite challenging weather, work has been completed and the steps are open again.

“The south coast cliffs are prone to regular slips which we will continue to address as coastal maintenance remains a high priority for us,” said Infrastructure Officer, Marco Tersigni.

“Alongside these reactive remedial works we will keep delivering our significant annual programme of works across the island to maintain both our natural and manmade coastal infrastructure.

“Safety is our primary priority and we thank people for their patience whilst these difficult but essential works have been carried out. We understand Petit Port is a popular beach for locals and tourists and it’s very pleasing to have completed the safety works to allow these steps to open again.
