Loose rock will be removed from the cliff face at Petit Port over the coming weeks to try and make the area safer.
New rock catcher mesh will also be installed.
Environment & Infrastructure said the work is part of its ongoing coastal infrastructure maintenance.
The steps down to Petit Port will need to be closed for five- weeks while the work is carried out, due to the risk of rockfall as the existing mesh is removed along with any currently loose rocks.
The work is due to start on Monday 2 March.
A small compound will also be set up in the small car park nearby while the work is carried out.
Work was recently carried out in the area in 2024 when debris was cleared from the rock fencing and a safety inspection was conducted.
