An unconscious woman who was pulled from the sea at Vazon this morning has died.

Guernsey Police have confirmed a visible emergency response saw all of the blue light services and volunteer led agencies work together to try and save her life.

Tragically the 39-year-old died after being taken to hospital, confirmed a spokesperson.

They said she had been given medical attention on the beach before being taken to hospital – but sadly her life could not be saved.

“This morning all emergency services, Coast Guard, RNLI, Guernsey Civil Protection, and the Channel Islands Air Search attended Vazon as part of a rescue operation,” explained the police spokesperson.

“A 39-year-old woman was identified as being unconscious in the water. She was given immediate medical attention on the beach before being transported to hospital, where she has since passed away.

“Officers are now working with the woman’s family to support them, and we would like to express our condolences to them at this very sad and difficult time.”
