La Couture Inn is hosting a ‘monster meat draw” this Friday to raise funds for the Flying Christine marine ambulance.
The event is supporting the 2026 sailing car challenge, which will see a team sailing a bright yellow converted car across the Little Russel from Guernsey to Herm and on to Sark later this year.
The vehicle will be on display at the pub tomorrow evening, and will be making an appearance at future events throughout the summer months to boost fundraising efforts.
The ‘floating fundraiser’ is a repeat of a challenge met three decades ago, when volunteers sailed a similar vehicle to Sark.
Those same marine ambulance volunteers, Gary Ward and Paul Phillips, are once again leading the project.
Mr Phillips said they’ve received positive feedback already, and now plan to take the car to various events this summer to show it off.
“We had great feedback from the public when we took the car to the Seafront Sunday a few weeks ago.
“We now want to get the car out to as many places and events as possible during the summer, starting with La Couture this week.”

Pub landlord Darren Davison has a personal connection to the charity, so was pleased to support the fundraising.
“I am delighted to help raise funds for the Flying Christine and support the sailing car challenge. This is a cause that is close to my heart as my father, Rene, had a long career with the ambulance service and crewed on both the current Flying Christine III and her predecessor Flying Christine II.
“When he died his ashes were scattered from the Flying Christine.
“I am looking forward to hosting the floating car and giving people a chance to see the car up close before it embarks on its challenge later this year.”
Tickets for the ‘monster meat draw’ go on sale at 18:00 with the draw taking place at 19:00.
The St John Ambulance and Rescue Service is welcoming public donations and sponsorship for its fundraiser, with contributions accepted via cheques sent to Blanchford House, The Rohais, St Peter Port, or through the ambulance service website.
