The Red Arrows will return to Guernsey once again in September, to take part in this year’s Air Display.
The spectacle will again take place during the evening, following last year’s successful trial of the new time slot.
Despite being five months away, we’ve already been told some of the aircraft that will be appearing above us on Wednesday 9 September as their timetables are confirmed a long time in advance.
The RAF events team said the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be able to come over as well, which Flying Display Director Barry Neal is very pleased about.
It is one of the most successful military transport aircraft designs in history and was widely used by the Allies during World War Two and is always a crowd pleaser, like the Red Arrows.
“We know how much the Air Display means to the community, and securing aircraft of this calibre helps ensure the 2026 event will make for another memorable evening,” he said.
“The Red Arrows are always a huge draw with islanders and visitors alike, and the Dakota adds a unique sense of history and heritage to the evening, making for a really special combination in the skies over St Peter Port.”
Mr Neal and his co-organisers are working with private display teams to build up the full flying order which will be confirmed closer to the time.
“As ever, the display relies on the generous backing of local sponsors and supporters and this is becoming more challenging each year,” added Event Organiser Natalie Davidson from Black Vanilla.
“Every contribution, whether from a business as a sponsor or an individual supporter, plays an important role in helping us deliver the event and we’re very grateful to everyone who helps make it possible.
“There are a range of packages available to become a sponsor or a Corporate Friend from £850, as well as the opportunity to get involved individually by becoming a Friend of the Guernsey Air Display at just £17.50.”
