The Red Arrows will return to the Bailiwick next month to headline this year’s Guernsey Air Display, with organisers promising another evening of aerial entertainment over St Peter Port Harbour.
The RAF aerobatic team will once again open the display on Wednesday 9 September, after last year’s switch to an evening format proved a hit with crowds. The event will run from 18:30 to 20:00.
Joining the Red Arrows in the confirmed line-up are the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, a Hurricane, and the BAC Jet Provost – a classic British jet trainer making its first appearance at the display for several years.
Flying Display Director Barry Neal said: “The Reds and the BBMF are stalwarts of the display and a highlight for many.
He said moving to the evening allowed the event to add Airborne Pyrotechnics to the bill, which was “real success last year and we’re excited to welcome them back for another twilight spectacle”.
Also returning after a break is Team Raven, a six-aircraft civilian aerobatic display team from Wales, whose homebuilt aircraft perform formation flying with distinctive white smoke trails.
Organisers are also expanding the food and drink village on Crown Pier after the success of its introduction last year.
Natalie Davidson, Event Organiser at Black Vanilla, said: “The reception we received last year for the evening display and for the food and drink village on Crown Pier was amazing.
“We’re really excited to welcome islanders and visitors back to Crown Pier for a second year. This year, the food and drink village will be on a bigger scale, giving people the chance to enjoy fantastic local food and drink while watching the display over St Peter Port Harbour.”
The Guernsey Air Display is funded through sponsorship and public support.
Business sponsorship packages range from £750 to £3,450, while supporters can become a Friend of the Guernsey Air Display for £17.50, receiving a commemorative 2026 pin badge and other benefits.
