Citizens Advice Guernsey is celebrating the service of a volunteer who is retiring after more than 19 years.
Since joining in 2007, David Beattie has helped many islanders with issues including housing, employment and consumer rights.
For the last five years, he has served as the Volunteer Representative on the charity’s Management Committee, making sure the views of the volunteer team were heard.
Mr Beattie said it had been “a privilege to volunteer” for so many years and he was leaving “fond memories and full confidence” in the team.
Special place
He said: “I’ve met incredible people – both clients and fellow volunteers – and I’ve learnt so much over the years.
“What I will miss most is the sense of shared purpose and the teamwork that makes Citizens Advice so special.”

The charity’s CEO, Ali Marquis, said Mr Beattie’s work had been “commendable”. adding: “His commitment, knowledge and integrity have made a meaningful difference to our clients, volunteers and staff.
Mr Beattie embodied the charity’s values “always putting clients first, sharing his expertise generously, and helping shape the supportive volunteer culture we are so proud of”.
She added: “We are very grateful for his nearly two decades of service and wish him the very best in his well deserved retirement.”
Volunteers wanted
Citizens Advice Guernsey is recruiting new volunteers who would like to make a difference in the community.
It is specifically looking for people who can give some of their time to join their amazing team, whether working in their office or remotely once initial training is complete, and full training is provided.
