Two of Guernsey’s best known brands have joined together to produce a festive treat – and it is selling out fast!

Rocquette Cider and the Channel Islands Liquor Co have jointly created a mulled apple juice this Christmas.

Using locally grown apples and locally produced rum, with other added flavours, Luke Wheadon from the CI Liquor Co said the drink is available to buy now.

“Essentially it is a mulled apple juice from Rocquette Cider incorporating spices such as cassia, cinnamon, green cardamon, star anise, cloves, hibiscus flower, orange peel which is blended with CI Liquor Co’s Indica spiced rum,” he explained.

“This is a delicious alternative to a mulled wine with lots of spicy appley rum goodness in it.

“All you need to do with the product is warm it up – not too hot so you don’t burn off the rum, and enjoy.”

As well as being made locally using local produce, the new mulled apple juice is available from local suppliers including directly from the CI Liquor Co at the Vivier Bunker and Rocquettes Cider.

Other retailers selling it include the Farm Shop, Earlswood, and Forest Stores.

Mr Wheadon said a ‘taste test’ at the Farm Shop went so well over the weekend that they sold out.

“I delivered some so they could serve it as a taster for customers, and they sold out on Saturday, so I delivered more on Sunday and they sold out again!

“I delivered some more on Monday, so there was some available there. But there are only a few cases left now,” said Mr Wheadon.

“It was great to use James’ really amazing apples with our Indica spiced rum and some other spices to make this. It’s a really lovely collaboration using local produce, made locally, and being sold locally.”
