There’s just one week left to support the RNLI’s Reindeer Run Challenge.
The maritime lifesaving organisation is challenging islanders to run, walk, or jog 24 miles between December 1st and 24th.
The 24 miles symbolise one mile for every hour the RNLI crews are on call, 24/7 – even on Christmas Day.
The event is a crucial fundraiser to provide the necessary training, equipment, and lifesaving crew kit.
Over the last five years, RNLI lifeboats have launched more than 100 times during the Christmas period alone, making this funding essential to help save lives at sea and reunite families.
Richard Evans, Volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: “Our crew is on-call 24/7 ready to answer calls for help this winter. It can be hard on our family and friends if we are called out to rescue during a winter storm, or even halfway through Christmas dinner, but we’re ready to give our time to help save others.
“Fundraising challenges like the Reindeer Run help to provide our training, equipment and lifesaving crew kit, and mean that we can help reunite more families this Christmas.”
