Saumarez Park playground is closed today, and for a couple of days next week, so maintenance work can be carried out before the school summer holidays.
Today, contractors working on behalf of Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services are removing dried out silt from the sides of the pond next to the playground.
This work will ensure the park drains properly after wet weather.
The park’s rear car park off Ruette des Saumarez and some areas around the pond will be closed while this work is carried out. The park and playground are open for use though.
Next week, on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 June, ACLMS will start work to fix a replacement net to the pirate ship play equipment in the playground.
As the workers will need to dig out around the pirate ship to fix in the new net’s anchor points, the playground will be closed while that takes place.
All the works has been scheduled to take place on weekdays during term time to
minimise disruption for children during the summer holidays.
