Shopping UnLtd is expanding its services to help more elderly and disabled people with their grocery shopping.
That means the service needs some more volunteers to act as drivers and passenger assistants to meet the growing demand of their offering.
The trips are free and are offered to people who are unable to shop independently due to age, disability, or health issues, with each trip accommodating a small group of up to eight people, whilst accompanied by one of these volunteer drivers and a trained passenger assistant.
The service looks to help people maintain independence, enjoy social contact, and get friendly check-ins from the volunteers.
Currently, trips are available on Wednesday afternoons to Alliance in the Vale and on Tuesday and Friday to Co-op supermarkets.
The organisation is officially launching with Alliance next month, with other supermarkets to follow suit.
If you are interested in volunteering, UnLtd says you can call, or email them to book your first trip.
You’ll need to fill out a form so the charity can understand any medical or support needs.
