The ‘Milk for Schools’ programme is being expanded with an aim of every child in the island getting a glass of the white stuff every day.

The scheme is for children in primary and early years’ education, and more than 1,000 children already get a glass of milk when they’re in school or early years’ settings.

To reach every child, those behind the offering say they need some help. 

The Guernsey Dairy needs new partners to help fund the milk for four States primary schools and 16 early years settings.

​Operations Director Andrew Tabel said establishing the programme across all settings is essential. 

“It’s incredibly encouraging to see the Milk for Schools programme thrive and its positive impact within the community. We’re especially pleased some settings can now offer milk for the first time – none of this would be possible without the support of local businesses.”

Partners so far include Bachmann Group, CHOW, Collenette Jones, Horsepool Group, Investec, IslandHealth, Le Pommier Hotel, Manor Farm Foods, Milton Produce, Praxis, the Skipton Community Fund, and Vazon Bay Apartments.

“We’re seeking sponsors for four States primary schools and 16 early years settings,” Mr Tabel said.

“Our goal is to offer a fresh glass of Guernsey milk for every child in primary and early years education. 

“We encourage businesses and individuals to get involved and help us achieve it.”
