Stagecoach Southwest has taken over running Guernsey’s public bus services.

From today, the new operator is responsible for the bus network, including some of the school bus services.

To coincide with Stagecoach replacing CT Plus, a new app and website have gone live.

The technology behind the new platform has been developed by UrbanThings, a specialist in smart transport solutions, in partnership with The States of Guernsey and Stagecoach.

The new buses.gg app, available on iOS and Android by searching Guernsey Buses, replaces the previous version and offers real-time journey planning alongside key travel information.

Stagecoach says the website has also been redesigned to improve usability for both residents and visitors to the island.

Laura Oxburgh, Head of On-Island Travel and Transport Implementation,  said: “With public transport playing a vital role in Guernsey, it’s important that passengers have reliable, up-to-date information. The new app and website will make it easier to plan journeys and stay informed about bus services.”

Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, added: “As we begin operating the island’s bus network, we’re committed to delivering a high-quality service for passengers. Providing clear, accessible travel information is a key part of that and these new digital tools will help people plan their journeys with confidence.”

Nicole Easden, Business Development and Account Manager at UrbanThings, commented: “Technology has the power to transport public transport, making it more efficient and accessible. We’re proud to have worked with the States of Guernsey and Stagecoach South West to deliver a modern, user-friendly solution that puts real-time information in the hands of passengers.”
