This year, Jax Robin, the Group’s Chair said, she had been in long discussions with Deputy Gavin St Pier, the President of Policy & Resources, and they had agreed funding of £13,504.50 to pay for those replacement lights and the infrastructure.
“With these expenses paid, the total now banked has been brought to just over the £33,000.00 required for the testing, erecting, insuring, storing and de-rigging of the 2019 display. As for previous years, all donations received from now onwards will go towards future expenses.”

Ms Robin and her team said they were both heartened and delighted that Deputy St Pier and P&R had recognised the importance of keeping Christmas lights in St Peter Port to “support Town’s economy and the welfare and happiness of the community of Guernsey during the festive period”.
On behalf of the Charity she thanked all who have made contributions to the ‘Don’t let the lights go out’ campaign over the last three years, and although it may be a little early, she wished everyone a ‘Happy, Merry & Bright Christmas 2019’.
Santa’s switch on of the lights will take place on Saturday 30 November this year. More details about that event are to come.
