This year’s Sure Guernsey Marathon takes to the road tomorrow, starting at 09:00 from Havelet.

The annual event returns with a full marathon, a relay race, and a one-mile run, with the full 26.2 course circling the island.

Around 1,000 runners are expected to take part in total

This year’s Guernsey Marathon has a significant international presence, with more than 150 runners travelling from the USA, Australia, and Europe to take part.

The field features several previous winners including course record holder Otmane Menbar (pictured above) alongside elite runners Harriet Carr and Eugénie Boterf, both of whom are targeting fast finish times.

Among the local runners will be Guernsey’s own professional triathlete Josh Lewis.

He is a Sure by Beyon Ambassador for this Sunday’s race.

The Guernsey Marathon starts and finishes at Havelet, with runners taking on the full 26.2 mile course starting at 09:00 on Sunday.

The two person and five person relay teams will all start running at 09:30, from Havelet. The changeover points for the runners are at the Mallard, the Imperial, Vazon (for both the two and five person relay teams), and Pembroke.

The Sure Marathon Mile starts at 10:00 from Havelet.

The Guernsey Marathon serves as a major fundraiser for two local organisations who do incredible work in the islands – Bowel Cancer Guernsey and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

Following a call out from organisers for extra volunteers earlier this week, a spokesperson said they’re now in “a really positive place with volunteer numbers” thanks to the “incredible” support from the Guernsey public.

However if people are still interested in volunteering their time, they can get in touch with the team on the website HERE, or you can email 26.2@guernseymarathon.com.
