With more than 1,000 runners taking part in either the full Sure Marathon, the Mourant Relay Race, or the Sure Mile, 10 more volunteers are urgently needed to act as course marshals this weekend.

The runners will be starting in the different events from 09:00 at Havelet on Sunday morning with volunteers helping at various stages across the marathon course, which goes all around the island.

A spokesperson for the Sure Guernsey Marathon said the volunteer Course Marshals help “ensure a safe and smooth-running event”.

“Course Marshals are at the heart of the running action, guiding and supporting the participants as they move along the marathon course. Their positive presence not only motivate the runners but also plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and overall experience of one of the island’s biggest community and fundraising events.”

No previous experience is required to be a course marshal, said the organisers.

You need 2-6 hours free on Sunday 19 April.

Anyone able to support the event is asked to register as a Course Marshal on the website HERE.
