Over 150 runners from international locations including the USA, Australia and Europe are expected to come to Guernsey to take part in this year’s marathon.

The 2026 Sure Guernsey Marathon takes place on Sunday 19 April and will feature several returning champions including Morocco’s Otmane Menbar (2025 winner and course record holder), France’s Guillaume Ruel (2024) and Rick Weston – Guernsey’s last winner in 2023.

Other notable names include UK elite runner Harriet Carr, who holds a personal best of 2hrs 51 and is aiming for the course record, and France’s Eugénie Boterf, who is targeting a time under three hours.

Hannah Mundy, Assistant Race Director, said: “It’s incredible to see how the Sure Guernsey Marathon has grown over the years into a truly international destination marathon, attracting runners from across the globe.

“What makes it so special, however, is that it has never lost its community heart, locals of all ages and abilities still come out in force to cheer, participate, and be part of the atmosphere.”

Ms Mundy said she enjoyed seeing “elite athletes, families, first-time runners and fundraisers all sharing the roads of our beautiful island really embodies the spirit of this event”.

Good causes

Marathon organisers have confirmed its annual fundraising event will raise money for Bowel Cancer Guernsey and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

It said there were multiple ways to get involved with this year’s event.

There’s the ‘Mourant Relay Race’ – open to teams of two or five – as well as the ’Sure Marathon Mile’ meanwhile is aimed at younger runners and families, allowing them to enjoy the photo finish under the main gantry.

Organisers are calling out for more volunteers, including 40 course marshals to help with “participant safety and motivation”.
