The Channel Islands’ longest running music festival is just days away from returning to Vale Castle with its eclectic mix of vibrant tunes and global consciousness.
Set up is well underway for the 2025 edition of the Vale Earth Fair which swings open its doors this Sunday (24 August).
Headlining are The Lovely Eggs, bringing their Iggy Pop-style punk to the mainstage, and The Big Special with their moody takes on postindustrial Britain.
Local artists also get a platform, with crowd-pleasers Buffalo Huddleston, Moroccan groovers Yas, and the heavy Apothis performing.
The Vale Earth Fair Collective, volunteers who organise the festival, are reminding attendees that their contributions with tickets, drinks and memorabilia help to support local and international causes.
“We support three main charities which we have donated £15,000 to (£5k each) in the last year thanks to the support of the many islanders who attend our events. These charities are The Burma Campaign, The Linda Norgrove Foundation and Safer. As well as these, we have also been supporting Medical Aid for Palestinians over the last few years at Christmas,” it said.
“So far we have managed to send them more than £6,000 thanks to everyone who has supported us. MAP does so much important work to support medical services in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.
“The Vale Earth Fair Collective think it’s so important to ensure that these vital charities are supported in the life-saving work that they do. Yes, we enjoy the festival and the events we put on, but we wanted to highlight why we do it all as volunteers.”
The Burma Campaign has supported human rights, democracy and development in Myanmar since the early 1990s but holds even more prevalence today due to the ongoing civil war following a military coup in 2021.
The Linda Norgrove Foundation supports women and children in Afghanistan through education programmes, health services and provides incomes for women in spite of political oppressions and military conflict.
Safer is a local charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse by providing resources and advocacy that promote independence. It also provides education and training in the community.
Vale Earth Fair begins at 12:00 on Sunday 24 August and tickets are available online or at the door.
