The States of Guernsey’s Traffic and Highways Services team confirmed on Sunday 4 March that final reinstatement works had progressed well over the weekend and that the asphalt had to be left to cure overnight before the road could re-open to all traffic this morning.

Guernsey Water said yesterday:
“We are pleased to let you know that after a long and arduous project, undertaken at times in atrocious weather conditions, Vale Road will be open to traffic from tomorrow morning.
“We know this had been very inconvenient to many and recognise the disturbance this work has caused. However we trust that islanders recognise the need for, and appreciate, the investment in this key infrastructure to maintain our wastewater assets that provide such an essential service.”

The utility firm thanked Vale Road residents and motorist who use the busy road for their patience and cooperation throughout.
The road closed in October so drains in the area could be improved as part of a wider project to upgrade services between Vale Road and St Sampson’s Harbour.
While there had been plans to reopen the road in January, and over Christmas, the crew had to work through as the project overran.
