Guernsey’s restaurant scene is continuing to boom, with Vraic being awarded a prestigious Michelin Star.

The Chouet based restaurant had already been placed in the Michelin Guide, alongside Alba and Fukku, but now it has won Guernsey’s first Michelin star since ‘Christophe’ closed its doors at the Fermain Valley Hotel in 2009.

Led by Executive Chef Nathan Davies, Vraic only opened last summer and has already won local and visiting fans.

A Michelin star is the internationally recognised benchmark of culinary excellence, and is awarded by anonymous inspectors to restaurants offering top-quality, consistent cuisine.

A recent visit to Vraic left the inspectors feeling that Mr Davies’ restaurant fits comfortably in that category, with the Michelin Guide now describing it as “the very definition of a destination restaurant”.

The inspectors said Vraic is “a stunningly located restaurant with cooking to match, making excellent use of the island’s larder”.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr Davies said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive a Michelin star for Vraic, it’s an incredible moment for our whole team.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work everyone has put in, and to the support we’ve had from our local producers and the wider Guernsey community since day one.”

Mr Davies and his wife, the restaurant’s Operations Manager, Hollie Davies, moved to the island last year. He said it has turned out to have been the correct decision for their family and their work.

“Moving here to open the restaurant was a big decision for our family, but the warmth and welcome we’ve received has been amazing. I hope this achievement helps shine a light on just how special this island really is.”

2026 has started off positively for Guernsey’s culinary scene, adding to rewards reaped last year.

As well as Vraic, Fukku, and Alba already appearing in the Michelin Guide, Alba was awarded a Bib Gourmand last week – a special award focussed on “exceptionally good food at moderate prices”.

Vraic also made an appearance on a well respected list of the top 100 restaurants in the United Kingdom, with the Guernsey eatery given the fourth highest spot nationwide, despite not technically being in the UK.
