Express was among the businesses visited, with Editor Laura Clayton and reporter Maisie Foote both taking time out of their busy days to register to vote.
“It only took a couple of minutes, if that,” said Laura.
“It was very easy to do, didn’t take any time at all really, and now we’re both signed up to vote. Three of our staff have already signed up to the electoral roll using the forms which have been posted out, but Maisie and I hadn’t got around to it, so this was the ideal opportunity to get it done to make sure we can have our say next June.
“Another staff member was out of the office at the time the election team came to visit us, but as it’s so quick he can sign up anytime he has a few minutes spare.”

The electoral roll only opened earlier this month but the team working on it said there has already been “an enormous response from Islanders wanting to register”.
So far more than 3,000 have registered online, while nearly 6,000 paper forms have also been received back through the post.
“With each paper form able to include up to five individuals’ registration details, it is expected that the total number registered will exceed 10,000 once all of the forms received have been processed,” said the spokesperson.
David Mullins, Lead Election Officer said “This is an incredible response, and we’re already ahead of where we expected to be compared to similar registration periods ahead of previous elections. Many of the submissions we’re getting are in paper form, and while receiving lots of those is a nice problem to have, we would encourage people to use the online option to help us speed up the process of getting all the submissions processed. The online option is very quick and easy to use.”
