The event marks the beginning of a packed year for the team, with trial flights for Les Amis residents being provided in June – a one-off event in association with the Jersey Aero Club that became a regular annual feature due to its success.

They’re also already looking ahead to October, when their “biggest event” will take place where younger residents will get to enjoy a flight around the island flown by volunteer pilots, as well as other activities.
For others keen for a flying experience, applications for the 2019 Flying Award, sponsored by Ports of Jersey, are now open.
The successful candidate to fly with the Jersey Aero club, to the value of £2000, in one of their ‘brand new’ Tecnam Aircrafts.

The award used to be known as a flying scholarship, but Helping Wings said they decided to change the name to reflect the inclusivity of the award, with no expectation placed on the winner to learn to fly.
Helping Wings Chair, Eveline Hawkin, commented: “[The feedback] we get from everyone whether it’s just to brighten their day or creating a life changing experience makes our work so rewarding.”
