A novel dining experience

Michelin-starred restaurant Bohemia announced the introduction of a dining experience in the sky. A crane would lift customers 200ft in the air, they promised.

Reassuringly, the restaurant claimed they would cure vertigo by serving cocktails before lift-off. 

A way to speed up lifeboat launch times

 

In a bid to speed up launch times and get their adrenaline pumping, the RNLI came up with an innovative solution: the RNLI Water Slide. Now that’s how you attract new recruits – who will naturally have to attend ‘Slide ‘n Glide’ training. 

They even went so far as adding the hashtags #OutOnAShout, #FastLaunch and #AdrenalinePumping.

McRansoms?

Ransoms Tearoom had us fooled for a minute when they announced they were merging with McDonald’s. Offering a 24h drive-thru and a full McDonald’s menu, this would have been an interesting addition to Jersey’s culinary scene.

Skinless fruit

Meanwhile, the neighbouring Ransoms Garden Centre introduced a mysterious new tree. Not only did it promise to grow delicious skinless fruit, but it also has magical healing powers.

Providing great detail on the plant – it was supposedly discovered by indigenous people in a remote location – the garden centre went the extra mile to immerse us in this magical plant’s story. This is one we’d love to see in real life.

Beans made of… beans?

 

In the spirit of consuming local products, Macmillan Jersey’s Lounge Café came up with a new coffee recipe – using only Bean Crock beans, grown locally and prepared with an authentic, passed-down-through-generations recipe.

“One customer bolted for the door after giving it a try,” they said. 

219-bedroom property for sale

 

Estate agents Broadlands offered a unique opportunity to develop a Jersey landmark – the hospital. This fixer-upper offers 219 bedrooms and a functioning fireplace, they said. 

One commenter offered to buy the building for half a Curly Wurly and a packet of Skips.

Baby dragons

These will surely delight any families during the Easter break: according to Jersey Heritage, this is the prime season to spot baby dragons that live in Mont Orgueil Castle’s walls. Baby dragons only stay in the castle for a short time before they fly away to start their own colonies. If I can’t adopt one, maybe the zoo can?

Drone deliveries

Need a new bed, sofa or mattress? No need to find a van, MyPad announced on 1 April that they now make deliveriesvia drone. Physics notwithstanding, this should make buying furniture a lot easier.

Meet the Seafari Sparrow

Instead of the usual RIB boats, Seafaris announced that it had bought a 40-passenger, solar-powered yacht to take on daily trips to the Roches Douvres lighthouse. The Seafari Sparrow was on its way from the Med, they said – surely this can only give a boost to tourism on the island?
