Jersey Festival of Words
Back for its 11th year, the Jersey Festival of Words has become a staple in the Island’s annual cultural diet.
A packed schedule of workshops, talks and performances will take place at various locations over the next week. Here is a flavour of what to expect.
On Friday evening, the Jersey Museum’s AV Theatre is hosting a screening of the film ‘À BÉTÔT? GOODBYE? Jèrriais – A language on the edge of silence’. This documentary is an ‘intimate portrait of Jèrriais’ showcasing the speakers and activists fighting to keep this dying language alive.
On Saturday, join Elizabeth Talbot – writer, creative facilitator and long-time journal keeper – at the Seaside Café in Grève de Lecq. She will guide attendees through her journaling practice, inviting people to explore their thoughts and feelings by putting pen to paper.
The 2026 line-up includes former Children’s Laureates Michael Morpurgo, Michael Rosen, and Chris Riddell, alongside crime writers Mark Billingham and Peter James.

The Corn Riots Festival
Now in its fifth year, The Corn Riots Festival (or La Folle d’Avoût) celebrates the 1769 event where the people of Jersey challenged an unfair system.
The free festival will take place from midday to 10pm tomorrow and from midday until 8pm on Sunday in the Royal Square.
Moore than 18 bands and performers are due to appear across the weekend, alongside dancing, poetry, live history events and food.
The line-up includes Jèrriais folk-pop group Badlabecques, the Ollie Wilson Band, electro-pop group Turquoise Days and Ctrl3 featuring Young Contemporary Musician of the Year Josh Davey.
