Every week, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here’s this week’s offering…

Tribute concert

A charity concert in memory of a former teacher and major figure in Jersey’s music scene is being held this weekend.

Colin Amos, who died last year, was the head of the Jersey Instrumental Service between 1990 and 2006 and was also head of music at Le Rocquier school.

On Saturday, Mark Willmett is hosting a charity concert, which will feature the Le Rocquier Big Band, the Les Quennevais All Star Steel Band and The Jersey Bounce.

The concert is being staged in the hall at Les Quennevais School from 19:00.

Tickets can be purchased online here.

Corn Riots Festival

The annual Corn Riots Festival is set to return to the Royal Square this weekend.

The event will celebrate Jersey’s history and culture with live music, traditional food stands and historic reenactments from midday on both Saturday and Sunday.

A full schedule of this weekend’s events can be found here.

Mindscapes exhibition

Two neurodivergent artists opened a new art exhibition in St Helier last week.

The joint exhibition Mindscapes, by Chris Addy and Emilie Knight, will run until 2nd October.

It explores identity, crisis and change following an autism diagnosis.

The exhibition can be found at Studio 18 on Beresford Street until October.

German shooting range

A hidden WWII German shooting range, which is rarely open to the public, will be accessible this Sunday.

Islanders will have exclusive access to the site at Queen’s Valley Reservoir from 10:00-12:00 this Sunday.

Jonathan Bull will host a circular walk around the reservoir while highlighting pieces of Jersey history along the way.

Attendees should wear wellington boots due to conditions at the reservoir.
