Ahead of the big event, and her own performance, Express spoke to the Festival’s Creative Director, Jessica Lloyd Chays about
Tell us a bit about your musical background…
I have toured as a support artist for various artists, worked as a session vocalist and backing singer for some of the world’s biggest artists, appeared in television commercials and performed my own show onboard various cruise ships for the last 15 years.

Pictured: Jessica Lloyds Chays has been performing for many years.
I now live in Jersey with my gorgeous husband and children and I continue to sing for corporate events, concerts, hotels and weddings.
How did you get involved in planning the Corn Riots musical entertainment?
I have been involved with management companies and agencies in the UK for a number of years and after organising a few successful corporate events here in Jersey I was approached to act as Creative Director for the Corn Riots Festival.
Which act are you most excited for?
The act I’m most excited for is our band(!), the Jessica Lloyd Band, as we very rarely perform for public events.
I’m also excited for Lauren Ivy and the Engine – and anything that Brian White does is amazing, and Nic Dinnie too.
Having said that, there are some really amazing singers, duos and bands performing, who’ll absolutely smash it.
What do you love about the Corn Riots Festival?
What I loved last year was both the vibrancy and commemoration of Jersey’s past.
This year, I’m excited that we have much more happening – more music, more art, more educational elements… and I’m praying the weather holds out for us all!
What’s your advice to anyone wanting to get into performing live music locally?
If you want to perform live music locally then I highly encourage it.
Do your own thing, be original and go for it! If you want any help, then do get in touch, but ultimately there’s nothing stopping you!
Live your best life.
Where can I find a guide to what’s on this weekend?
Right here!
