A derelict patch of land on College Hill is set to be transformed into two large family homes after redevelopment plans were given the green light.
The currently deserted and overgrown sloping site behind Royal Bank Court is to make way for a pair of four-bedroom semi-detached houses, complete with private gardens and parking.
The approved plan – submitted by Alan Devy – involves excavating 329m3 of spoil and comes with ten planning conditions.
Socrates Architects said the scheme was designed as a “more practical and lower-impact response” than earlier apartment-led proposals already approved for the site.
The land already has a significant planning history. Permission was granted last year for the development of five apartments after an appeal process, while an earlier residential consent from 2020 also remains active.
The most recent application argued that the revised scheme would reduce the amount of excavation and engineering work needed on the hillside site.
