More top names have been confirmed for the Festival of Words 2016.
More than 5,000 young readers will be given the chance to enjoy live performances from authors including Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo, creator of War Horse.

Jess French, the CBeebies presenter who will be promoting her pre-school series Minibeast Adventures

A.F. Harrold, poet, performer and author of the Fizzlebert Stump series

Jim Smith, writer and illustrator of the Barry Loser series

Chris Bradford, author of the Young Samurai and Young Bodyguard series of thrillers

Kristina Stephenson, creator of the adventures of Sir Charlie Stinky Socks

Eugene Lambert, whose The Sign of One, first in a planned sci-fi thriller trilogy, is aimed at secondary school-age readers

William Sutcliffe, another secondary age author, best known for Concentr8, set in a dystopian future London

Jeff Gardiner, whose latest book, Myopia, is about bullying and prejudice

Simon MacDonald, the Jersey-based writer and entertainer, who will stage one of his popular comedy shows for children
Festival Chairman Jennifer Bridge said: “Inspiring a love of reading in young people is one of the main objectives of the Jersey Festival of Words.
“We aim to create a family-friendly atmosphere, in which young book fans can come along to meet their favourite authors and hear about their much-loved book characters.
“We hope they will not only be entertained but also leave enthused to read more and more.”
The Festival’s organisers say the young readers programme is a key part of the second Jersey Festival of Words, which will also bring a host of prominent writers in all genres to the Island between 28 September and 2 October.
