Blue Islands’ has today seen its booking system restored following a global platform outage that affected 50 airlines around the world this week.
The airline said customers can now once again book flights via its website after the provider of its booking platform restored full system functionality.
“We thank our passengers for their understanding and patience as we suffered this major outage and apologise to all customers for any inconvenience,” said Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands.
“Occurrences of this magnitude are rare; I’d like to thank our team as well as our airport and ground partners for continuing to deliver our flight operations, ensuring any impact for our customers travelling with us during this period was minimal.”
Mr Veron said that since Tuesday morning, when the outage first occurred, and Thursday evening when systems were restored, all 70 scheduled Blue Islands flights operated as planned for 3,000 passengers.
“Ahead of one of our busiest summers, our flights to exciting destinations across our network including Mallorca, Newcastle and Paris, together with our year-round services such as inter-island and Southampton, can once again be booked at www.blueislands.com up to 12 months in advance.”
Aurigny was also affected by the outage and yesterday said its passengers had experienced minimal travel disruption over the prior couple of days, with 97% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time on Wednesday 9 April.
Both airlines had asked passengers to allow extra time to check in while the outage was being resolved.
