Highlands College is still leading the overall score board according to figures from the Student Finance and Education Department. Bristol and Edinburgh have however seen their numbers drop.

Universities attended by jersey undergraduates

Part of Brighton’s success could be explained by their association with Jersey academic institutions. Lindsay Ellis, who graduated from the University of Sussex in 2015 with a BA in Geography and International Development chose them after meeting their representatives at JCG. “Their annual talks at Jersey College for Girls during my sixth form years helped me in my decision to shortlist them in my top university choices”, she explains.

But Brighton also boasts many other perks, as Lindsay says: “Its proximity and size is a nice gradual step for young adults looking to make their first move off the island.”

As far as subjects are concerned, Humanities, English, History, Archaeology Politics as well as Medical Sciences are some of the top choices, with Animal Sciences and Geography being among the least popular.
