At the end of every year, Express speaks to local charities about what their Christmas wishes are for the year ahead.
Today, we spoke to Dementia Jersey, a local charity which supports people with dementia, and the family and friends caring for them.
What have been the highlights of 2024?
We co-authored the first dementia strategy for Jersey which was launched in June 2024, and we hope will have a big impact on the lives of people with dementia and their families.

We also launched free training for family carers of people with dementia, and a Dementia Friendly Business Scheme to transform the experiences of customers with dementia.
What has been the greatest challenge?
Keeping up with demand despite more than doubling in size in the last 3 years – several of our services run waiting lists so we’re looking at ways to continue to scale up.
And what is on your charity’s ‘wish list’ for 2025?
Funding for the dementia strategy – whilst there has been strong political goodwill towards having a strategy for dementia, funding for the strategy hasn’t yet been forthcoming.
