Do you know someone who is living with Dementia or supporting an Islander suffering with the condition?

Well, this month is your chance to take a step in support for the 1,600 Islanders currently living with dementia, through the return of an annual charity walk.

Dementia Jersey’s Memory Walk is due to take place on Sunday 20 September at 10.30am, raising awareness and funds to support people living with dementia, as well as their carers and families.

The charity is currently tackling the condition by offering confidential support from dementia advisers and a programme of therapeutic activities open to people with dementia and their carers.

The number of Islanders living with Dementia is expected to double within a generation.

The walk which will begin at La Fregate and end just before St Brelade’s Parish Hall, is a flat five kilometres, and accessible for all ages and abilities.

The charity is encouraging all Islanders to take part, with the route being pushchair and wheelchair-friendly, with pets also welcome to join.

In an attempt to not only raise money, the Memory Walk is also to help honour those who have lost people to dementia, or family and friends currently living with the condition.

Dementia Jersey is also urging Islanders to get involved even if they are unable to attend on the day through its “Own Route” option.

This option will allow Islanders to complete their own Memory Walk at a time and place that suits them while still raising money and awareness for the charity.

Tickets must be purchased before 20 September and can be found here https://race-nation.co.uk/register/dementia-jersey/memory-walk-2026-dementia-jersey.
