Are you a Gallichan or Blampied?

A recently discovered historic family Bible may be able to reconnect islanders with their ancestors after the tome was found by a second-hand item lover at a Trinity charity shop…

Bargain enthusiast Fiona Walker set up social media pages under the name ‘Upstylejersey24’ to showcase the interesting items she finds and to encourage islanders to do their own digging for treasure to support good causes.

Each week, she shares her top finds with Express

This week, Fiona happened upon a family Bible, presented on the marriage of Charles Blampied and Mary Jane Gallichan in Trinity Church over 140 years ago, at Age Concern’s Rondel Farm charity shop.

The Bible details various members of the groom’s family in the late 19th Century, when they were each born and some details of their deaths.

The names listed include two generations of Charles Garnet Blampied, one of which was described to have been killed in action in France, an Adelaide Mary Blampied and a Clement Le Sueur Blampied.

Fiona told Express that the Bible has only just been handed in to the charity shop, and has yet to be priced for sale.

Anyone interested can contact the shop on freephone 0800 735 0345.
