An investigation is underway after a double decker bus crashed into the building above Liberation Station this morning.
The section of the Esplanade between Castle Street and Conway Street was closed, and emergency services were on the scene.

LibertyBus director Kevin Hart said the vehicle had been coming from the depot at around 05:10 and had been due to provide the first service of the day on route 15 to Jersey Airport, departing Liberation Station at 05:25.
“The bus was empty at the time, other than the driver, who was uninjured,” he said.
Mr Hart also confirmed that an investigation was now underway.
“We need to look at the CCTV and will help the police with their investigation,” he added.
Due to incident around the Bus Station all buses coming in from the west and going out to the west will leave from the Esplanade (where Channel Island Tyres was situated)

The damaged part of the building was an office used by the manager of the Liberty Apartments complex, who a colleague explained was currently away from the island.
Mr Hart said the bus station would remain closed while an inspection took place to ensure there was no danger from debris, but that he was hopeful that Liberation Station would re-open this afternoon in time for the evening rush-hour.

Similar collisions took place at Liberation Station in March 2019 and July 2015.
Passengers were on board during the 2015 incident and had to scramble away from their seats as the windows on the top deck shattered.
