The legends of the dragon that tormented Jersey, the long-lost bridge across the sea to Normandy, the giant storm hound preying on Bouley Bay are just some of the myths and legend explored by a local author in his latest book.

Illustrated Tales of Jersey by Paul Darroch was published earlier this month.

The 96-page book is described as a “captivating insight into some of the remarkable folklore, legends and phenomena of Jersey”.

Each story is accompanied by the author’s photographs of places featured in the text.

Mr Darroch is an established local history writer, with previous publications including Jersey: The Hidden Histories and Jersey: Secrets of the Sea.

He also records a regular podcast called The History Islands, which is available on Apple or Spotify.
